Barefoot Summer captures the golden nostalgia of Australian summers — a playful exploration of sun-soaked days where time stretches and memories are made. Through scenes of jetty jumping, wave chasing, ice cream melting down sticky fingers, and sand-covered joy, this collection invites viewers to reconnect with the carefree essence of childhood. Each piece is a moment suspended — familiar, tender, joyful and perfectly imperfect — evoking the warmth of long beach days and the quiet beauty of slowing down.

About Belinda Mitchell

I am a South Australian contemporary artist who was born in Clare and grew up on a vineyard in the Adelaide Hills. Much of my childhood was spent exploring the vineyards and playing in the creeks, fostering a lifelong love of the outdoors and nature.

It wasn’t until high school that I discovered my passion for painting. After a successful corporate career and raising two sons, I rediscovered this love for the arts and have spent the last 5 years undertaking informal training to improve my skills and technique.

Working predominantly with oil on canvas, my art is inspired by our ever-increasing busy lifestyles and the desire to slow down and take in the small moments where we find joy, happiness and a sense of calm.  From magnificent sunsets and seascapes to the people we love and spend time making memories with, my art encourages viewers to take a moment to reflect and appreciate the subtle beauty in the world around us.
