Andrew Quixley

My interest in art commenced in the early 1970s

At secondary school you would always find me in the art room creating

In the late 70s I commenced formal qualifications in horticulture and spent the best part of 35 years running a Landscape Design and Construction business whilst painting on the side in my spare time

The high end gardens that my company built featured on television programs and in magazines

In my early 50s our family shifted from the Adelaide Hills to the Clare Valley purchasing a vineyard property and establishing three up market B&B accommodations as well as making and marketing our brand of wine

I also opened up an art gallery called Vine Art Studio and Gallery in Leasingham which i ran successfully with my wife and with a large Studio I had a lot more time to be creating than I’d ever had

Over the years I had many exhibitions on Melbourne Street in North Adelaide, SALA exhibitions and in other establishments

In 2015 I was pleased to take out first prize at the Clare Rotary Art Show which was a real buzz

My style has changed over the years but has always had an element of horticulture and outdoor living in the artworks that I create

Working mainly now in acrylics and inks I love to create depths and interest in the artwork that I complete.

Colour is really important to me and it makes me happy and I know my clients love the colour

I now work from my Studio in the Mid North South Australian country town of Riverton where I draw inspiration from the shapes, patterns and colours that I see surrounding me

In my downtime i love to camp in the bush, particularly the Flinders Ranges with my wife, and also other places around Australia

Now in my mid 60s I’m blessed to be able to paint full-time creating what I believe are colourful and interesting works that I have sold all around Australia and in many places overseas as well
