have a life long devotion to art and craft and was lucky to have been raised in an artistic family surrounded by the beautiful Riverland landscape. My mother was an artist and encouraged me, at a young age, to leave this sanctuary and live in Adelaide to study at the South Australian School of Art, as she had done. My career has carried me through a wide range of disciplines with particular emphasis on pottery, painting, drawing, flat glass and jewellery .
As a retired studio potter my journey with clay continues. I am enjoying the more intimate process of making small ceramic components using porcelain,- modelling, carving and stamping design motifs, staining, glazing and firing.
Opening my little electric kiln after a firing is still just as much thrill as my huge wood fired, trolley kiln. I used as a potter out in the bush at Monash, Riverland.
The beautiful glazed colours and textures inspire the designs of my jewellery that I create combined with silver, copper and semiprecious stones. I have recently completed full time study of silver jewellery at the Adelaide College of the Arts. My pieces are complete when they are being worn and enjoyed.
