Fay Jeanes, from Gulfview Heights, South Australia spent her early years in the Riverland. She is a member of the Pastel Artists of SA, the Port Adelaide Community Art Society and a longstanding member of the Salisbury Art Society. Fay has always enjoyed creating art and has been tutored by great artists like Margaret Brand, Boris Franco, John Ford, Ros Paterson and recently, Stan Sperlak from the USA.
Drawing inspiration from the world around her, Fay is just as happy drawing a small bird, a flower or a grand landscape. Her preferred medium is Pastel. She loves the tactile experience of working with pure colour with the knowledge that pastel endures for centuries. She has held five solo exhibitions. Firstly at the Ozone Gallery in Renmark, Angove’s Winery and the McCormick Centre for the Environment in Renmark. She also exhibited in the Country Arts Gallery in Berri and the Rain Moth Gallery in Waikerie. She frequently exhibits her work around the state.
Fay has won many awards for her works including ‘Best Overall Work’ at the Inaugural Playford Art Show in 2003. She has entered SALA (South Australian Living Artists) since 2008 and won the Encouragement Award in 2008, People’s Choice, First Prize in 2011and 2013, Second Prize on three occasions and Third Prize once.In the Salisbury Art Society, she has been awarded Artist of the Year in 2005 and 2014. Her paintings have been sold to art lovers here, interstate and overseas.
