Peter Chaplin was born in Adelaide in 1946 and studied at the South Australian School of Art before embarking on a career as a commercial artist and operating a successful graphic design consultancy.
In 1992 he decided to focus solely on fine art.
His landscape paintings have become collectors’ items and his work has repeatedly won awards at art shows including Victor Harbor, Glenelg, Port Adelaide, Hahndorf, Port Pirie and Whyalla. In 2000 he was a finalist in the McLaren Vale prize in the prestigious Fleurieu Biennale.
Peter, who lives in Adelaide's southern suburbs, is a frequent visitor to the Fleurieu Peninsula, where he finds inspiration for his oil and water color land and streetscapes.
