Coming from several generations of artists Mike Barr is essentially self-taught with no formal art training.
Residing in Adelaide, South Australia, he has ready access to both the beautiful beaches and a wide variety of countryside in which inspiration has been gained.
Painting mainly in acrylics, but occasionally in oils, he has been influenced by the impressionists of Europe and the Heidelberg School of Australian artists.
His passion is the beach and sea and those who frequent them and he strives to recreate the atmosphere of actually being there, taking the viewer to a place that holds pleasant memories and wishes.
