Artist Profile

Jim Kinch was born and studied in Dundalk, Ireland before moving to South Australia in 1973.

A career in design and marketing gave him regular opportunities to visit the world’s great art galleries, where he found inspiration.

Painting mainly in isolation, he developed a strong impressionistic style. “I don’t paint feathers,” he says. “I paint flight.”

He began exhibiting in 1990, is a regular prize winner and became a full-time painter? in 1997.

Jim Kinch has had many interstate and overseas exhibitions, with his down-to-earth approach and the variety of his subject matter ensuring his work is always in demand from collectors in a number of countries including his birthplace of Ireland.
